The procedure of repairing a damaged pump crankshaft is known as Peroni Pompe Crankshaft Repair. An engineer examines the crankpin’s hardness, surface condition, ovality, taper, and size. The necessary size and smooth surface are then restored by precisely grinding and polishing the crankpin. RA Power Solutions recently completed Peroni Pompe Crankshaft Repair onsite for a Peroni pump manufactured by Peroni Pompe, Italy. The three-crankpin crankshaft had a standard diameter of 215 mm but had developed taper, ovality, bearing marks, and a rough surface. These problems were causing repeated crankpin bearing damage and costly plant shutdowns.
Before starting the Repair of Crankshaft, our technicians carried out a detailed inspection. Crankpin ovality was found between 0.06 mm and 0.18 mm. MPI testing showed no major abnormality, although a few superficial hairline marks were noticed. Crankpin hardness was within the required limits. Based on the inspection, the crankshaft was repaired onsite using precision grinding and polishing.
